I was very fortunate to be commissioned to do a country wedding in Burgate, Suffolk. A classic wedding with a church ceremony and the reception at the groom's parents home. The Suffolk countryside is just fantastic for wedding photography. You may be asking yourself "what was special about this wedding” There are a number of key factors:
1. The bride and groom wanted a great album collection and were all geared up for the photography, mentally that is. Nothing was too much trouble and that had been factored into the day.
2. Timings and what is expected are covered on the pre wedding meeting. It is sometimes the first time that timings after the ceremony have been carefully considered. The photographer must balance the need to get the images required with the bride and groom's desire to meet and mix with their guests - not an east task.
3. The assistance of a very good best man and chief brides maid. With over 30 group shots to do people need to be managed and encouraged. The chief brides maid is also absolutely key to the intimate bride and groom shots as she is the one dressing the dress and assisting the bride to look stunning. She needs to be prepared for this important task. I was blessed with both these people on the day.
Great wedding photography needs to be planned and, at times, corriographed to get great images. For me people have got to enter into the spirit and if this is not the case it is the job of the photographer to overcome this by encouragement and building a quick rapport with guests.
It has to be said that the setting was a photographer's dream - a great home with all sorts of unusual and great settings.
A fantastic day for me and a pleasure to work with this family and their guests.
It’s all about planning and adjusting the plan as you go forward, just take people with you.
